Hello again my esteemed colleagues:
RID set a precedent more than 5 years ago. It was called Giving Back. In honor of that ideal please consider the following:
As you may have seen on our fabulous web site, RI RID is doing new and wonderful things. At a meeting last year, we decided as a group to make a policy for donating/sponsoring requests made of us. Part of that decision was to donate no more than $1000.00 per fiscal year.
This fiscal year 2015 began in July 2014. Since then we have donated $550.00. These donations fit our criteria and went to sponsor CDI trainings, Friends of RI School for the Deaf toward their Athletic Program, Jr. NAD Conference. We foresee more requests being made.
We also decided to donate funds to sponsor one student to attend Camp Mark 7. This camp allows fosters Deaf students personal growth and much more. These students will be our future consumers. RI RID will award a scholarship to a student annually. The student will be chosen based on an essay submitted to RI RID. RI RID will donate $250.00 to this cause.
I am asking each of you to seriously consider donating toward this worthwhile endeavor. What I ask is that you send a tax deductible check made out to Friends of RI School for the Deaf but mail it to RI RID PO Box 20056 Cranston, RI 02920. This needs to be done by April 30, 2015. I will be giving the total ($1200.00 this our goal) to the school by May 1, 2015 Two of our generous members will make up the difference from their businesses after the RI RID funds and individual interpreter funds are combined.
Also below is a request to fund the RI School for the Deaf Senior Trip. Please consider this as well. RI RID will donate to them too.
Every little bit counts, though we are all feeling the pinch of the economy, the Deaf community needs us!! We need them. So many of you are already Giving Back by doing Pro Bono work. Please let's keep this going and engage with our community.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Rosa Norberg, President RI RID
Just wanted to reach out to you, as you've been involved with our senior class one way or another, sharing that our senior class have selected Canada as their designated place to go to! As you may or may not know we have a class of ten seniors! As a result we only had/have this year to raise the funds to go to Canada! We have raised over $1000 on campus and have raised over $1000 on gofundme. Our goal is to raise at least $2000 on gofundme by Feb. 1. We need your help to spread the word via Facebook, Twitter or email.
Please help this fabulous class!
Here's the link (including what we hope will be our plan for the trip):
